McQQEEN is a noisy punk band from Athens, GA. The quartet’s sophomore release, II, finds them shedding the garage-punk roots with the addition of a new rhythm section to create a sound that is equal parts sinister and catchy. They balance groovy misanthropic dissonance and taut downstroke riffage, all drenched in a bath of psychedelic reverb. The band began as a songwriting outlet for frontman/guitarist Al O Vera (Shaved Christ, Shade), soon joined by guitarist Thomas Kim. Lucca Carver and Alex Baum stepped in to record their sophomore LP. Carver stuck around to join the project along with Cole Johnson (Coma Therapy) to round out the lineup, which finds the band at their loudest and noisiest. McQQEEN's II is a kaleidoscopic panorama of psychedelic noise punk that comes out on Tape and Digital courtesy of Big Neck Records.
The album was recorded and mixed by Vera himself and mastered by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios
